Teaching Methods & Approaches

I can’t learn English for you – you have to do the hard work.

Every student is unique. Whether it’s their learning objectives or learning style, I aim to individualise my courses and lessons to help my students find their own best way of learning in a way that is relevant and as close as possible to real world communication. In practice this means providing rich, engaging and interactive learning opportunities – as much as possible I try to help students learn by doing.

For example, why spend time listening to an audio recording of two actors pretending to talk on the telephone and then pretending yourself to talk to another student on the phone?? Instead, talk on your mobile phone to someone! Then reflect on what you could do well and what needs improving. In this way, lesson time is focused on the area of need.
